Large and impressive Aesthetic Movement frame and tiles. We urge you to get a ruler, tape measure, or yard stick so as to understand the size and scale of the object at hand. It measures an overall 38” by 13” while each tile measures 8 1/4” square and approximately 33 1/4” wide for all four tiles side by side.

Each tile is marked Craven Dunhill / Limited / Jackfield / Salop. We must assume for the sake of accurate representation that this tile group is indeed solely the work of Craven Dunhill & Co. & emphasize that the price is based on that origin. However, it is our strong belief that, while they undoubtedly produced the tile blanks, they are not the designers nor decorators. We feel that these are by William Morris & William De Morgan as it is known that they purchased blanks from other tile companies to produce their own tiles both during the collaborations of Morris and De Morgan as well as in the early production period of De Morgan’s ventures. Think about it? ~ Does the decoration on these tiles relate to ANY product that Craven Dunhill produced? Or does it directly relate to Morris & De Morgan? Indeed, the marks on these tiles correspond to the correct time period. I cease our ramblings and close with condition and shipping note.

The condition is excellent. The frame is crisp and clean and the tiles appear undamaged at the face, yet there are significant edge chips at the back side of several tiles.

SHIPPING NOTE: For shipment the wood strips that hold the tiles in place are attached with screws and for shipping safety the tiles must be removed and packed individually which will require some mechanical skill on buyers end to reassemble. Fastidious notes, photographic documentation, and instructions will be included with the shipment. If this is shipped as framed / assembled, it is our belief that it will not arrive intact.
