Pair of Patinated Copper Art Nouveau Easel Back Frames, Circa 1900. Presumably American, possibly continental. Most likely bench made verses of manufactured origin. The size of the openings implies use for family photographs as the size is consistent with CDV’s and/or Tintypes. Elaborate fabrication with extensive coping saw work and riveted construction. Condition is excellent having no damage and/or repairs; however, putting images in these is somewhat quirky which is an indication of their bench made origin. No marks present. It would be curious to learn if this craftsman conjured up this lovely design or borrowed it from one of the many art journals of the day. Unique is a word often overused to describe objects, so I simply say ~ go find another one! I’m confident that these are essentially the only ones on the planet and made of a material I like to call ~ unobtanium.
