A Louis Majorelle Art Nouveau Vanity or Writing Desk. Circa 1900. Ecole de Nancy furniture in a most organic form. The usual stile and rail system of constructing furniture has been all but eliminated here in this example. It is as if this piece of furniture has grown rather than having been built. Peppered with vegetal carvings and inlays depicting plants and insects. Condition is superb and unapologetic accepting the inconsequential split to back side of mirror panel and some dust residuals tucked in nooks at perimeter of mirror. Signed at lower right of its single drawer. Overall height measures 49”, overall width is 27”, overall depth is 24”, while the writing surface is 29” high.
