Curious Steuben Vases! Frederick Carder was not a fan of clear glass yet did produce many examples of clear colorless glass. Not common to find this form, shape #938, in clear. This is not to imply rarity and great value, but rather obscurity. The shape was used for decades by Steuben in a host of colors, but rarely clear. Here we offer a pair of engraved, circa 1930, vases. Depicted in Tom Dimitroff’s book, page 167, in a 1930’s sales catalog depicting a series of engraved vases including these shown at far right. Each measures just short of 11” tall, not small, and 9” in diameter at its widest. Only one vase is signed with a barely visible fleur de lis mark. The condition is excellent and undamaged ~ clearly! (Pun intended).
