American Aesthetic Movement Porcelain Vase Signed Ott & Brewer of Trenton, NJ. Circa 1880. Darwanism as presented on this porcelain vessel embellished by an amber bronze like surface decorated with several shades of gilt decor and green grass depicting a snake ready to strike its unsuspecting frog as his prey. Pierced work at the pair of handles and its four feet. Marked at underside of one foot: Belleek / Trenton with superimposed initials O & B. Condition is excellent and undamaged though note that this model is often shown with a lid though there is not ridge at upper rim to receive such a lid. Lastly, and I state with confidence, the closeup image of the frog is the most accurate image of what the decoration appears as when its in your hands. You’ll see! Further, the decoration appears in much higher relief than our images depict.
