A French Art Nouveau Pictorial Calendar / Clock Tile by Eugene Grasset for Emile Muller. Signed EG at lower right for Eugene Grasset and Emile Muller in script at lower left. Incised stamp mark to back of tile for Muller Ivry Paris tile works. The Emile Muller firm was known for collaborating with a veritable who’s who in design with a very lengthy list of important artists and designers as well as an extensive resume of architectural installations across the globe. In this example, we have a group of six ladies holding tablets for various months of the years amidst Grasset’s stylized vegetation which encapsulates a clock contained in a floral carved oak frame. Condition of tile is excellent and undamaged. Clock works twice per day ~ ticking, but does not keep accurate time. Frame is very clean accepting a chip to the wood frame at one corner as shown in images below.
